Beyond the Polar Circle

Cross the mythical Antarctic Circle during an exceptional 17-day cruise proposed by PONANT. An expedition to the far reaches of the Southern Hemisphere, aboard Le Boréal.

After embarking in Ushuaia, the city at the end of the world, you will set sail to the Falkland Islands (New Island and Grave Cove), whose wild beauty will not fail to enchant you.

Le Boréal will then head eastward to discover South Georgia. This sub-Antarctic region formed by an underwater mountain chain is home to diverse and preserved fauna. King penguins, humpback whales and elephant seals are its most emblematic representatives.

Before passing over the Antarctic Circle, the high point of your cruise, you’ll be dazzled by your ports of call on the Antarctic Peninsula, a fascinating backdrop of ice where the play on light is like nowhere else in the world. The visit to Neko Harbour, surrounded by mountains and icebergs, will be a lasting memory. You will probably be lucky enough to come across penguins, leopard seals, orcas and seals.

The crossing through Drake Passage, between the Antarctic Peninsula and the southern point of Argentina, will mark the end of your cruise, just before you return to Ushuaia.
